Petgaming is the only Spanish player to make it past Day 1 of the 23rd World Series of Poker 2023 $50,000 6-Max Event.
Sergio was already the best of us in the $25,000 tournament, but on the second day of the tournament six homegrown players came together. Here, the Asturian will have to wait for late entries to see if anyone else will accompany him on this adventure.
In fact, in the preliminary field of 111 players for this event, there is another Spaniard, Adrian Mateos. To be sure, his first pitch didn’t net him 48 tickets to Day 2, but maybe he’s thinking about being like Lander Lijo, who signed up for the $25,000 tournament spontaneously and got paid.
The field was the minefield you’d expect, with Justin Bonomo, Talal Shakerchi and Chris Brewer temporarily on the podium, but Sergio managed to hold onto his 9th place finish, That puts him in a good position to try to imbibe some fresh stacks from the early field.
